Personal History | Sovar was raised in a traditional household with his three siblings in a semi-rural environment adjacent to an agricultural research facility. His mother T'Mar served as the primary caretaker during their formative years while his father Velekh remained a distant figure by necessity. Throughout Sovar's entire life his father has served as the chief of protocol for the State Ministry, tasked with advising the High Command and other officials on matters of diplomatic protocol. Their father's involvement with outside forces encouraged an outward-looking orientation within the home, tempered at times by their mother's traditionalism. It helped encourage the mentality of a destiny among the stars for Sovar and his siblings. Upon recommendation by his father's influential colleagues, Sovar entered the Vulcan Science Academy at the age of maturity. Over the course of his two decades of study, he chose to specialize in the increasingly crucial field of planetary science with the aim of joining the Vulcan Expeditionary Fleet's (VEF) survey missions. During this time, he was married to T'Arvot, the mate arranged by his family decades earlier. While he completed eight years of field work on the Vulcan colony of Trilan, T'Arvot joined the Security Ministry as a commando. When Sovar was posted to the VEF, she entered into an intensive period of training for covert operations. Their careers necessitated long periods of separation but the couple maintained consistent contact through a steady flow of correspondence. After many successful years in the VEF, Sovar was reassigned to the Vulcan High Command helping to coordinate colonization and planetary exploitation activities near the increasingly tense border region near Romulan space. In the same year, his wife was wounded and killed in the Vulcan-Andorian conflict over Paan Mokar. Following the incident, he took nine months of bereavement leave and used the time to expand his relationship with his family and refocus his career path. Ultimately, at the encouragement of his father, Sovar elected to join the Vulcan-Earth Officer Exchange Program. After two years of training, he was assigned as a science officer to one of the newly launched NX-class vessels, the Atlantis. |
