| Personal History | Cristóbal Octavio Santana was born the eighth child of Miguel and Marciana Santana in Barcelona, Spain. His parents were decently well off and he had access to some of the best private schools in the area. Early on, he showed an exceptional aptitude for languages as he mastered English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French before he went to secondary school. His parents encouraged this gift by hiring tutors in other languages, including Mandarin Chinese, German, Russian, and Farsi. In secondary school, his language studies were placed above all else and he excelled in the subject, traveling the world with his teacher and building relationships with the locals. He became very good with people, very sensitive, and very charming. After graduating from secondary school, Cris took a position as a student in a Brazilian language-science university, learning from many masterful teachers such as Hoshi Sato. He developed an interest in alien languages and, after graduation, applied to Starfleet for an opportunity to study at the frontier of language discovery. After an officer training course, he was assigned to active duty in Starfleet. |
