Personal History 2130-2148 - Childhood
Olivia Nora Saugn was born to Jonathan and Helena Saugn while they were working as crew on the SS Logan’s Run, a deep space freight vessel, barely even capable of Warp 2. Her first step was taken in artificial gravity and she did not feel real gravity until long past she was out of diapers. She was a child raised in space and around the living beating hearts of machines. Her father was the head engineer of the Logan’s Run and she spent a lot of time in the engine room with him. He would often joke that she knew how to work a warp core before she figured out how to work the potty.

It was in her teenage years that her life changed. The Logan’s Run was on a cargo run and had detoured a few months out of the normal cargo lane in an attempt to make some profit at an outpost when it struck a mine. The damage crippled the ship. She and her father worked in the engine room, doing everything they could to keep air flowing, but without parts it was hopeless. She was with her father when he reported to the Captain. She was beside him when the Captain left and went to his quarters. And she dropped to her knees next to him when she heard the shots as the Captain killed himself, his wife, and their children. Samantha took care of the mess while Jonathan never gave up. Rescue would come in the form of a Starfleet ship, the USS Geneva, a Ganges-class scout ship. Though not the best-equipped ship it was more than able to help repair the freight ship. It was at that moment that Olivi decided she wanted to enter Starfleet.

Of course, that was easier said than done. Olivia studied for years to take the entrance exams only to miss the deadline for applications by a few short days. She would spend a year longer on the Logan’s Run than she had planned, but the time allowed her to better explain her choice to join Starfleet to her father, who had not originally been supportive of the idea. When she did finally get accepted into Starfleet Academy she left with the full support of her family.

2248-2252 - Starfleet Academy
Olivia aced the engineering portion of her academy exam and was thus quickly fast-tracked into the engineering program at the Academy. She did exceptionally well in her classwork, making it to the top 15% of her class and remaining there for almost 2 years. She made plenty of friends and was known as a bit of a social butterfly. But she was also viewed as untamable, many men around her having tried to get so much as a date out of her came back empty-handed.

And then the unthinkable happened, Olivia met Helen and fell in love. And Olivia, who had once been the sort to be at the center of the party, became the one sitting in the corner having deep conversations. She became all consumed by Helen and as a result, her school work suffered, dropping from an A average to barely a C. But all the same, she graduated from the Academy and the same month married Helen. And after a 3-month break in which they traveled by warp sled to visit her family, they both received their first assignments, and luckily got to go together.

2152-2155 - USS Tora
She started her career in Starfleet as an engineer’s mate on the USS Tora, a small Intrepid class ship. And she was happy. Every day she would work in the engine room and every night she would come home madly in love. she was in constant contact with her family, getting reports as to her brother’s intentions to follow in her footsteps and join Starfleet. Years passed and she was promoted and promoted again until she was offered a position on one of the NX class ships. This was a real opportunity, but there was not an opening for Helen. after much back and forth Olivia decided to take the shot and try and use her position to get her wife transferred aboard. So she took the position. and then she got the news that Helen’s transfer was going through. Olivia would go a month before Helen.

2155-???? - NX-05 Atlantis
Olivia came aboard the Atlantis more nervously than she had any other ship, but she would quickly get settled in. She enjoyed getting to work with one of the new bigger beefier warp cores and the ship itself was amazing. she counted the days down before Helen would, at last, join her. And then, where there were only a handful of days before their reunion, the ship was lost and her with it. And then when things could get no worse, she found herself torn across the dimensional borders and thrust into a new universe. The vents of which resulted in her falling into a deep unconscious state.
