Personality & Traits

General Overview Anton is a colourful character with gregarious mannerisms and chortling belly laugh. He has a quick wit and a sense of humour that has gotten him in trouble once or twice. Anton has had a natural gift for all things mechanical, but sometimes fails to apply himself. Anton is a bit of a happy go lucky type that enjoys vodka, games of chance and finding a bargain. He lacks starship experience, having only recently finished starfleet training and his first posting being at the Earth dockyards working on upgrading the warp cores on Ganges Class starships.
Strengths & Weaknesses Anton has a keen mind for mechanical engineering and warp physics. But lacks experience both in life and in Starfleet. Aton is not really the physical type and his combat and phaser skills are limited to what he learnt in basic Starfleet training. Anton has always seemed to have a lucky streak.
Ambitions To Design & build Starfleet’s Warp Seven Warp Drive
Hobbies & Interests Anton enjoys games of chance, politics, playing the Tellerite Ogan, history, model building and painting, Vodka (which he knows is a stereotype)

Personal History Born in Moscow, Russia in 2131, to Victor and Anya. Nothing really jumps out about Anton Zakharov’s life growing up. Not raised in poverty, but also not raised into riches. Anton grew up in Moscow’s metropolitan suburbs. These metropolitan suburbs were still a place of construction and re-building, even after seventy odd years since first contact. Moscow had been hit by multiple atomic weapons during the third world war, and the whole city was being rebuilt from the ground up. Anton’s family were all engineers and construction workers working on the various rebuilding projects. Anton’s playground was the construction sites, scaffolding and equipment of the building sites where he lived. Like any other child, he went to school, then further education. He would spend his summers working in his dads workshop, helping to repair tools and construction equipment or helping his mother and brother on the construction sites. But it was the engines of construction vehicles that really interested him and when by an early age he could take apart a basic engine and put it back together again. It was his sister Irina, who had fueled his desire to join starfleet. Unlike Victor, Irina, who was seven years his senior, had enlisted in Starfleet for idealistic reasons, to explore and see space. That had never really bothered Anton, but the stories of warp cores, warp fields, Bussard collectors, Plasma injectors and Power transfer grids fascinated the young engineer and all he wanted to do from then on was get his hands on warp core. So he became more attentive in class. Got his head down and after finishing studies applied for Starfleet training. Antons starfleet training was not eventful in his final year posting he had applied for a starship posting. This was declined and he was assigned to the Earth Near Orbit Dockyards, which he would remain at after qualifying his starfleet training. The dockyards were a bustle of activity and it was the first time Anton got to see aliens and even other solar cultures. Here he worked on the Ganges Class Warp Core Upgrade Project with an engineering team. But it wasn’t the same. He didn’t even get to go on the flights that tested the engines once they were upgraded. Watching the ships leave and looking down to earth everyday, gave Anton a sense of the bigger picture. So he persevered, and he also got his sister, who was now diligently making her way through the ranks, to pull some strings and get him on a ship that actually moved and he could work with a functioning warp core. As such Anton was assigned to the engineering team of the NX-05 Atlantis. Anton’s gregarious personality has been somewhat tempered by a year in deep space. But he is still larger than life, if somewhat down with a year in the void.
