Mission: Mission 5 - Babel
Location: Personal Quarters
Timeline: Sometime prior to current mission
279 words - 0.6 OF Standard Post Measure

As soon as Nuna entered her quarters, her shoulders visibly slumped. Outside her quarters, Nuna's bearing and behavior would have given the turn of the twentieth century Prussians a run for their money. Her behavior and efficiency might have made one think that Nuna was a member of the human sect that had adopted Vulcan beliefs and mannerisms almost as soon as First Contact was made.

Nuna had made a study of the philosophies of Vulcan, but her behavior stemmed from her own psychosis, not ones that originated under an alien sun.

As soon as the door closed behind her, Nuna took out her secret treasure: a protective box containing a stoneware mug and a tin of loose leaf tea bags. The mug was a dull tinnish green, with a circle of Gaelic letters surrounding a silhouette of a singing group emblazoned on one side. The bags in the tin were filled with leaves, steams and flower petals from plants once native, and again thriving, in the Black Hills. Against all odds, the contakner had protected these two items against all the calamities that had befallen the Atlantis almost from the moment the starship had started her voyage.

The supply of tea bags had been finite even before Nuna had left Earth. The supply seemed even more finite now. Nuna had to dole out the bags sparingly.

Today was one of those days to dole.

Nuna placed one of the bags at the bottom of the mug and poured hot water over it. She let the scents emanating from the mug take her light years away from the Atlantis, and all the burdens duty had placed upon Nuna's shoulders.
