"Aha! See I told you that my quarters were bigger by 3 centimeters," Christian said as the measuring tape he was holding retracted back into it's mechanism with a snap. He stood and looked around at the space, which featured bunks, lockers, and a small desk on the bulkhead. "There's still the option of moving into the Hôtel Bonaparte suite that I have currently," he asked while looking over and giving a wink to his boyfriend. Christian's bags were situated on the bulkhead nearest the door, but he'd decided to make the show of measuring the space before starting to unpack. Their room reassignment had been approved, and Christian and Finn had spent most of the morning packing his gear before carrying it to Finn's quarters. Noticing the look on Finn's face, Christian crossed the space and held him in his arms.
"Hey," he said softly looking into the man's eyes, "If your thinking we are rushing this you can tell me."
“No…” the man instantly said and shook his head. “I am just trying to think of how we can disconnect the bunk bed and move it down.” He admitted with a rueful smile. He was not in any shape or form technical but he was sure that it was possible especially as he had seen several other crewmen do it once they started to spread out when the Captain had instructed department heads to sort it out if people no longer wanted to share they did not need to as they were in it for the long haul.
With a gleeful smile, Christian gave Finn a quick peck on the forehead before releasing his grip and stepping back to look at the bunk beds infront of them. "Hmm, that is a quandary for sure. Though the bigger question is: where are we moving them to," he asked giving Finn a wink. The space in the room was so tight that if they separated the bunk and converted them together, there would be about less than a half meter space on either side of the bed.
Finn rolled his eyes at the other man’s practicality when he was just thinking of being able to stretch out and we able to sleep next to the man comfortably. “I said I was thinking but I am not sure if I want to spend my life in a bunk with you.” Finn challenged back with a laugh.
Christian drew back in mock shock. "Is that so? Well Mr. Green Thumb, if you think i'm going to be tiddying up all the dirt you bring home from the hydroponics bay back here to our pristine quarters you can forget it," He gave the man a wink and a big smile as he noticed Finn slightly blush.
“I just meant I would like to spread out.” Finn muttered quietly as he shook his head. He hated how little disco they had to build a private life together. “Neither of us are small. I just… look I want to be able to wake up beside you is all I am saying.” Finn explained.
Christian looked into Finn's eyes and gave the man a warm smile. "Oh I knew what you meant. And that is what I want as well," he said before glancing around at their new home. "I never said it wasn't possible. And," he said before leaning down and giving Finn a soft kiss, "Your boyfriend has more skills than just running samples in the lab through the mass spectrometer."
Finn rolled his eyes at the other man as he pulled the man closer for another kiss before he grinned. “Is that right? I thought you and the mass spectrometer had a thing going the way you speak about it.” He teased the man as he moved to hang up his uniform in the wardrobe.
"Careful there sweetheart. The mass spectrometer does not take kindly to being mocked. She can hear everything that goes on aboard this ship," Christian said as he tossed his own duffle on the lower bunk and opened it up to start pulling out his clothing. "Which side of the closet did you take, right or left," he asked as he heard Finn hanging up his uniforms in the small closet.
"She sounds like a jealous ex, there, Chris. I took the right side." The man laughed as he thought of the mass spectrometer getting revenge on him, a lowly gardener. He barely went to the science labs, and there was no way it could get him in the hydroponics bay.
Christian looked over at Finn and gave him a wink. "Are you becoming quite fond of me mon cheri," he asked before laughing when he saw Finn blush. He returned to hanging his uniforms up in the closet next to Finn's. After stowing away his duffle, he turned and faced the open room and clapped his hands in front of him. "There, all moved in," he said.
Finn looked at Christian and rolled his eyes. Of course he was fond of the man, why else would he want to move in with the man. “A lot less complicated than it could have been.” He chuckled a little asked around himself.
