Mission:
Mission 1 - One Step forward
Location: Deck 1 - Main Bridge
692 words - 1.4 OF Standard Post Measure
Livingston was on the bridge, making sure the helm was working perfectly, and that the auto-pilot was working as it's suppose to.
Having received word that all crew, save the three on the Bridge and the Chief Engineer had been secured in their safe zones, Captain Morgan entered the Bridge from her Ready Room. Leah gave a look to the viewer as she stepped into the command area. The coming radiation storm loomed large on the screen and in an odd why she felt some form of fascination. It appeared as though it were a large purple nebula that had ominous looking dark places. It gave the feeling of an untamed beast. "Despite its destructive nature, I have to admit that it is beautiful," Leah stated aloud.
Beth looked up from the last checks on the communication systems that were set for sending out a signal. She smiled having thought the same earlier when she had first seen it, science was going to have a field day with all the information that was going to be recovered without meaning to. “I thought that when I first saw it, Captain. It makes me want to paint it." The woman admitted before she turned back to her console moving a few more dials. "Communication is set to autopilot to keep sending a signal. ” It was a basic thing but she felt better for knowing that Starfleet would at least know that they went in and got out safely.
"Captain. I was able to establish a visual link to the gym so we can monitor everything that happens. The computer will record all incoming data on a secured server." Livingston finished his programming. "Helm is ready captain. Give the word, please."
Nodding, Captain Morgan stepped toward the helm control. "Just make sure the computer isn't set to hit anything that will put an early end to our mission," she winked. She turned to Beth before saying, "Has everyone reported readiness in the shelters?"
Livingston double checked the helm controls, making sure that the auto-pilot would avoid any obstacles in the flight path.
Beth nodded. "All souls on board have reported that they are ready for the quarantine. Some have even prepared properly other than the arriving at there location." It would be tight but she was glad they weren't having to do it like the Enterprise was. It could be a lot worse.
Assuming that the lack of response meant that the pilot was quickly double checking the 18-hour flight path, Leah glanced over toward Beth. "As soon as we have confirmation of the flight path, we should make our way to our safe areas. "Mr. Livingston, you'll be with me. As the Chief Helm Officer, we'll need you closer to the Bridge to make any course corrections once we get out of this."
Livingston nodded. "Yes, ma'am." The computer confirmed the flight path. "The computer indicates that the flight plan is a go, Captain. The computer will steer around anything that gets in its way."
"Very good," Leah nodded. "If that is it, I think we should make our ways to the emergency shelters," she stated. The plan was for Leah and Benedict to go to the gymnasium while Beth took leadership of the Sickbay crew. "Everyone stay safe, I for one will be ready to stretch my legs after this."
"You too Captain." The Communication Officer said, wishing the sense of doom she had in the pit of her stomach would go away. She didn't like how worried she was about the woman.
"We'll be fine," Leah shot back almost sensing the other woman's concern. She looked towards the helmsman and asked, "Ready to go to the gym?"
Livingston nodded. "Aye, ma'am."
With that the last remaining officers made their way to their secured locations. Leah hoped for the best but she knew that these next few hours would be very long indeed. "I hope all of the good spots haven't been taken by the time we get there."
