Mission:
Mission 2 - Fallout
230 words - 0.5 OF Standard Post Measure
It's been 3 days since the food rationing started. First 2 days were easy, because most people were living off stored fat in their bodies. But come the 3rd day, everything changes.
As a general rule, people need a minimum of 1,200 calories a day to stay healthy. The average male needs 3.7 liters, 15.5 cups of water, women need 11.5 cups, 2.7 liters of fluids a day. What the crew is getting averages 700 calories a day, barely enough to function, and 1.5 liters of water.
A lot of people have stopped exercising to conserve calories. Many people are feeling sickly because of the rationing. Sickbay is overflowing with patients complaining of stomach aches.
An empty stomach can be painful.
Livingston had been reporting for duty every day. His demeanor had been normal. Inside, his stomach was making all sorts of noise...gurgling, rumbling and growling.
Everyone is getting 3 ration bars a day, each about 233 calories. Some eat all three at once, leaving them nothing for the rest of the day. Livingston spreads his out, eating a third of each bar every hours.
There's been talk of fights over the ration bars. Talk of people taking bars in exchange for "favors".
Ben has gotten offers for his food. He's been threatened. But he's been going about his business.
There's been talk of a mutiny unless the crew gets more food to eat.
So far, it's just been talk.
