Atlantis enters a region of unstable space, where distortions begin interfering with the ship's systems. Navigation becomes erratic, sensors produce conflicting readings, and the strain on Atlantis' stabilisation systems steadily increases. Then the stabiliser gives out.
Trapped within the region, Atlantis detects a vessel drifting nearby. It's an Earth ship. Older than Atlantis. A pre-NX vessel that has been missing for several months. The ship appears completely abandoned. There is no crew. No functioning communications. No obvious signs of battle. Yet the vessel's systems are still partially operational, and its life-support readings suggest someone—or something—has been aboard recently.
With Atlantis' stabilisation systems failing, the abandoned vessel may contain the technology, materials or power source they need to keep Atlantis together. Vohra becomes their saving grace, finding a way to temporarily stabilise the region long enough for the crew to board the derelict and recover what they need. But Vohra's intervention comes at a cost. The stabilisation window cannot last, and whatever Vohra has sacrificed to create it cannot simply be recovered. Atlantis has one chance to get what it needs before the region collapses around them.
And as the away team explores the abandoned ship, they discover something disturbing: The crew didn't abandon the ship because it was failing. They abandoned it because they were trying to escape something. |
