"Ma'am, thank God you're here," a nearly panic stricken engineer piped up as he saw the Acting Captain enter the main storage area for the food. "We have a huge problem," he continued as he led the command team to a nearby console. He tapped out some commands as he brought up the current status of the food, sweat already forming on his forehead. After a few moments the status displayed everything as normal. "All checks thus far have appeared normal, though we have been missing something. On a hunch, I decided to run sweeps for all known contaminants and when I did..." he tapped out a few commands that turned the whole system red. "Well, we have almost no edible food, save from the very limited stockpile of biomatter from waste reclamation."

The second that the engineer said thank god Beth knew that this wasn't going to be a good conversation at all but she just did not realise how life-changing it would be until she saw how sweaty he was. Sweat was a panic response and after six months she knew this man just didn't panic. "What is the containment and how did it get in?" Beth asked glancing around wondering if they were safe as she started to look through the stats that were on the screen just telling her how bad the situation now was.

Shaking his head, the man replied, "Best guess is the radiation storm. The stockpiles weren't as protected as the crew." He pointed out the indicators, "The water got hit too. Our filters can probably take care of it, but there are no guarantees. But the protein resequencers can filter out whatever radiation is there, though we don't have much bio matter." The man nervously scratched behind his ear. "We need a full resupply of biomatter ASAP," he stated with great concern in his voice.

"So how days do we have?" The Officer in charge asked quickly. It wasn't worth criticising the ship designers for a fault or anything, they would never know how badly they had messed up. It was how they handle the situation now was all that mattered, it was a matter of life and death

"Rationing, we have four days," the man replied. He definitely did not feel good about their situation.

Beth frowned as she looked back at Sloan. "What are your thoughts?" She asked quietly as she showed him what was on the screen.

"Time to get those new sensor settings running, finding anything close is our top priority," Michael responded. He looked at Beth and added, "Four days plus the rule of three means we have about 6 days before we hit the point of no return."

"Those sensors are now the priority. We need to gather the senior crew together." The way he said the point of no return made Beth bite her lip and nearly drew blood as she tried to keep herself focused, she was tired and now that food had been mentioned hungry as she tried to think of her last meal. It was going to be a long few days. “Get rid of the toxic material off the ship Ensign. We will need the space for the new stuff we find.” Beth said to the Ensign without a hint of doubt in her voice.

Nodding, Michael added, "Once the toxic material is dumped, do everything possible to decontaminate the storage units. No use refilling it if the new material is going to be contaminated again." Looking to Beth, Michael said, "I'll call an immediate Senior Staff meeting." His voice was determined, not scared. There were certainly in a bad spot, but they had the training and the know-how to make it, and he would see to it that they did.
