Beth looked at the medical reports in front of her and frowned as she waited for the call to connect with Avira personally over on the base. She had allowed everyone to have a call with someone back here but Beth needed to speak to the Chief Medical Officer properly without anyone else. She was looking at her blood tests for anaemia but she was looking at Iryna’s results that had been sent to her more closely than any other report she had in a long time. Iryna’s results would change everything on the ship and the Captain was unsure what to do about it alongside what was happening on the base.

Avira sat in the privacy of an office in the starbase, having received a request for a private consult with the Captain. "Commander." She gave a slow nod, her antennae seemed to respond something outside of view but the Andorian doctor remained focused on the screen in front of her. "You wanted to talk to me?"

Beth offered a smile as the familiar woman appeared on screen and called her commander. It was something she allowed the Andorian as she knew that it was the rank that people who were in charge of Andorian’s ship were called. She was more than happy to be compared to military legends like Shran. “Yes. I have received notifications of your blood tests that were run. Mine has returned as anaemia which was expected but it is Warrant Officer Voznyuk‘s that has pipped my attention.” She admitted.

There was only a half second where Avira had to think on exactly what the results of Voznyuk's blood test were. "Ah. Yes. Well, it was bound to happen at some point, it's something we've discussed prior to this test result." Her antennae twitched again, the doors to her room opened and she muted the connection, quickly dismissing who stepped into the room before turning back to the connection with the Atlantis, "We're well equipped to handle the medical aspect of it, though it has implications beyond that, of course."

Beth heard the door swoosh open and held her words as she tried to make out who had come in but the voice was to far away and Avira’s voice was far more sharper. Beth could not help but wonder what Iryna’s reaction was going to be to it all. “Yes but those can be faced eventually. Is she aware yet?”

"Our arrival at the base has somewhat prevented me from sharing the news." Avira remarked, knowing how odd it was for the Captain to know before the expectant mother.

“I am more than happy to be there with Hughes or yourself when she is told as it’s going to be a shock as I’m sure she did not expect any of this.” Iryna did not seem the type to forget contraceptives or anything.

Avira nodded at that, "I'm more than happy for Hughes to take that on." She wasn't too familiar with human pregnancies. It wasn't something they had expected them having to deal with. So anything beyond the first detection and then monitoring until disembarkation wasn't something she had been briefed on. She hoped Hughes had more of an idea on how to handle that. "How are you holding up, is the medication doing anything to alleviate your symptoms?"

Beth nodded. She had expected the woman to say that but she wanted to keep the chain of command in order and offer the chance to the woman before she defaulted to the man. "Me? I am f..." Beth paused in her almost defaulting to using the word standard fine when she was not fine and it was such a human word. "I am not great but it could be worse. I will talk to Hughes myself as he was giving me looks in the meeting." She said smiling just a little.

Avira nodded at that, "I'll check in with Hughes as well, make sure you keep that promise, Commander." She knew the Captain needed a bit of encouragement every once in a while.

Beth nodded. She knew that the Doctor would check as Beth was sometimes a little lacking when it came to herself. "And how about you Avira? How are you and the crew over there?" Beth wondered back trying to move the conversation to the greater issue of her having several crew over there with a potential sickness about to strike them.

"It seems that fatigue is starting to become a bit of an issue. People are ill at ease on this alien starport. There's also still a bit of paranoia from the fact that our hosts seem to be withholding information." Avira spoke open and honestly with the Captain. "The sooner we can narrow down the pathogen, the better. So far we've not been able to isolate any viral or bacterial agent." Though with the great many possibilities that wasn't really a surprise.

Beth patiently listened and nodded to what was being said. It was not a surprise at all to Beth that they had found nothing. Nothing about the situation was making much sense to her from the outside looking in so it must be frustrating and scary for the people there. "Okay, one thing at a time. The crew need to sleep. No one is going to function apart from you and Lieutenant Darru and you look tired." The human pointed out quickly.

"I'm fine, Commander." Avira tried to reassure her commanding officer, and perhaps a little bit herself as well, with that.

"And as for the second one. I am going to venture into the future core." It was not something that was brought up often but Beth decided that maybe it was needed to think on how to do things. They needed some guidance.

There was a slight eyebrow raise that wouldn't have been misplaced on Darru's features. There were certain rules and protocols around temporal stuff, even in the Andorian Imperial Guard they normally didn't touch that stuff with a ten foot pole. "Whatever you can find to help us, We'll take it."

Beth wanted to say I know I should not be looking there but what choice do I have right this second? But she choose not to and plastered a neutral look on and said nothing negative. Sometimes as a Captain you had to fake it until you made it and this was one of those situations. “Good I will look after this call and hopefully have something for you by the morning.” She assured thinking a couple of hours research might help her sleep.

"Take it easy, Commander, and I'll speak to you during the morning check-in." Avira gave a short salute over the video link. She still couldn't quite put her finger on some of the unease, but hopefully the data core could give them some insights.
