Lexi hated night shift; she hated night shift even more at the moment as she was stuck in the communication centre and the space was either too hot or too cold whilst she relayed messages back and forth from the Atlantis to the Kama Novus. It was boring and her body ached, but it was something to do whilst they headed for the arrival at the rendezvous.
That night it was too cold and she was wearing 2 layers, plus her uniform coat... well, William's uniform jacket so she could wear it over the bulk, and it was still not enough. "Unless you are delivering tea or something hot, please turn around and leave." She called not able to see the door from where she was sat with her headset off and the sound going through the compartment.
"Why would you suspect anything differently of me," William asked playfully as he entered and set down the mug of tea next to her console like he had done so many times before. He then took another chair and sat next to her before taking a sip from his own mug. "You know, i keep thinking one of these day's you'll actually figure out the environmental controls in here so you don't have to keep stealing my jacket when you work nights.
Lexi’s mood lifted as she realised it was her fiancée and not the engineering crewman who often came to chat on night shift. She instantly wrapped her arms around the mug and savoured the warmth. “What you don’t like the fact everyone knows it’s your jacket that I am wearing?” She teased.
"So your saying you keep it cold in here because you love me so much you want a good reason to wear my jacket," He replied before taking a sip from his own mug. "And you want people to notice that your wearing my jacket<" he asked before he touched a hand to his chest in admiration, "I am touched my dear."
“No it’s kept cold as we are using so much processing power with you know Commander.” The woman commented him. “Your jacket can go over my extra layer. I am not built like you.” To prove her point she did up the jacket.
Will grinned back at her before he looked back up at the screen in front of her. "Just like old times isn't it. What does the captain have you working on now," he aske quizically.
“Just looking through the data that other the crew gave over about Princess Hoynestra seeing if I can translate any of it so we can work her out a little more. She’s a little … otherworldly. Have you met her?” She wondered.
"I have, "William said with a slight nod. "I always imagined the first person I'd be saying 'Your Royal Highness' too would be Crown Prince Carl Gustav," he said by way of a joke referencing Crown Prince Carl Gustav XXXVII, the heir apparent to the Swedish throne, "But here I am schmoozing it up with Princesses and Pirates."
“You win some. You lose some.” The woman commented with smirked a little. “But I think she’s a bigger thing than meeting a crown prince. We are out here meeting unknown royalty and aliens.” Lexie commented but she felt the same thinking of the British Royal family and Her Royal Highness Princess Victoria.
