"I am not leaving the Bridge until we have a route at the very least." Beth looked at him pointedly before she rolled her eyes and returned to sitting in the Captain's chair silently. She curled up in it and took her jacket off "If there was cake I would not be sharing it." The woman said making the MACO stood by the door chuckle just a little. He knew the officer in charge was teasing but the look on her face said she was not.
"Are we talking pre lost in space or after Lieutenant?" The MACO asked trying to make conversation now that the bridge was not quite so silent, with only four of them there and the Vulcan at the Science Station not seeming willing he was going to risk it. Beth turned to look the man over and shrugged, he had a good point and it was a good question.
The question would go unanswered, however. Aurelius suddenly froze. "I've got it." He said as calmly as possible. I know where we are." His fingers were now working frantically over the keys, mapping and cataloging as fast as he could move them. Suddenly without warning the console in front of him exploded in a ball of electricity. He was blown back, coming out of his chair and sliding across the deck, his head hitting a hard surface before he could even register what had happened. Darkness swallowed him up.
As the Console exploded Beth covered her face as the shrapnel and heat. She dived up the second it finished and moved to the comms console putting out an emergency call across the ship before running to the Lieutenant lying on the floor. "Aurelius?" The woman called as the MACO who has been talking away grabbed the emergency kit from under another console bringing it to the Commander.
Seeing that the MACO already had the medical kit at the ready as he rushed into the room, Michael raced to the nearest console to the fallen Aurelius. There was a small quirk in the consoles that sent information to the nearest one in the event of a power surge, but you had to be fast. "Trying to see if his console shared the information," Sloan announced so the people around him would not think too harshly about him ignoring the fallen crew member. His fingers danced on the mechanical buttons, trying to sweet talk the computer into giving up its secrets.
Ensign Livingston ran unto the bridge, just as the explosion happened.
Seeing that Livingston was frozen from the sight of the disaster, Michael called out to the ensign, "Don't just stand there, give me a hand." Not exactly giving the man a chance to react, the Acting First Officer ordered, "See if helm control sent the information regarding our whereabouts to another console."
Hearing the first officer snap him of his daze, Ben ran to the helm station, sat down and started checking for the information the commander wanted. "Checking, sir."
Aurelius seemed to come in and out of consciousness. The pain was overwhelming and he couldn't recall what had happened. Certain faces came into view and faded again and he heard his name being called. He locked eyes with the Captain for a moment and studied her lovely face before venturing back into the void once more.
The next to arrive on the scene was Min, who's eyes laid first upon the exploded console, then to where she saw the camouflaged MACO officer, knelt over and examining another officer. Doctor's kit in hand, she instinctively ran over and knelt to the other side of the pilot. After a brief visual examination, she looked first to the MACO. "What can you assess?"
"Pretty severe concussion, third-degree burns to his hands. His vitals are fairly stable though. Recommend we move him really carefully and then we'll see if something can be done about the hands. I wouldn't be surprised if he loses the nerves there though."
Min frowned, eyes on Aurelius. "Lieutenant, can you hear me?"
He groaned, he'd heard his name but was having trouble staying conscious long enough for any type of conversation, not to mention the pain was intense.
"Lieutenant you are going to be okay," Beth repeated as she looked at the destruction on the bridge. It was moments like that she wished she was telepathic or something so she could have conversations with people without others knowing what she was wanting. She rose as the medical team took over. "Status on what he found?" The Commander asked looking at the people who had scrambled to get the information.
In the midst of the fray, Constantine had arrived at the bridge and assumed his post at the communications station. Seeing that more qualified and more skilled medics were attending to Aurelius, Mattias turned his attention towards his own console. He nimbly keyed in some commands to check the interface buffers between the consoles on the bridge; there was some hope that a fragment of the information was still making the electronic rounds, trying to find a place to land.
"Nothing here ma'am," Ensign Constantine replied, concern shifting as he looked towards the center of the bridge. "Is Lieutenant Davis going to be alright?"
Beth looked at the man and shrugged. Words had failed her suddenly and she just did not know if the man was going to be okay. They had done all they could at the beginning to help him before medical arrived. "I do not know." She finally said aloud looking around.
Livingston continued to go through the nav computer looking for their location data.
"I have some pieces," Michael stated toward Constantine. A bit hopefully, he added, "I'll send what I have to your console. See if we can make a full picture." With a few taps, the information uploaded to the comms. The station was more out of the way for medical attention to be given to Aurelius, that way two people could work without being in the way. "What have you got?" Michael asked as he joined Constantine at Comms.
"Sir," the junior comms officer shook himself back to reality and pointed at a few numbers that were displayed on the console. "The verification algorithms that the computer uses to process and present our data filter out what they deem to be invalid data. Given our situation, at lot of data is going to seem 'invalid,' so removing the filtering has given us a bit more precision on our location."
Ensign Constantine tapped in a few commands, bringing up a sparsely filled map of the Alpha quadrant.
"As best we can tell, we are here," he gestured to a glowing portion of the map. "Well, here-ish."
Livingston took a look at the map, and imputed the data into the nav computer. "If that map is accurate, it'll take us 69.53 years to return to Federation territory."
"If we had a Vulcan warp drive," Michael corrected as he looked at the map. A quick calculation based on Warp 4.5 and the lightyear measurement gave him, "That's 150.334 years, give or take a week or two." Almost as soon as he said it, his stomach dropped. No one aboard, or even their children would see home again.
