I Am Not Leaving Until You Are Leaving Part 1

Aurelius sat at the flight control console and move as little as possible. He was hoping that little movement would use little resources in his body. His brain was the only think he was interested in working and he fully intended to have the best route back home completely mapped out. If nothing else maybe it would impress the new captain. She was pretty, even with the added stress of this horrible situation.

It was barely midnight and there were only a few officers on the bridge enough to move and observe space around them. Beth was refusing to leave the bridge until they had found some point of reference to start from and get home. "Anything Davis?" The woman wondered rising from her seat to look over the console.

"No Ma'am. Not yet, but I'll keep working. Not as if I could sleep anyway." And he meant that. Knowing their dire position, he would not be able to close his eyes and rest without surges of adrenaline waking him up.

"I did wonder why you were here instead of the usual operator." The woman commented on as she moved up behind him. "We don't even have a general direction?" Beth would never admit it but she was fed up finally of the purple hues that surrounded the ship. Any other time the former comms operator could have watched them all day but now it was a reminder of what was lost and how they were not where they were supposed to be.

Aurelius sighed. "I could give you my best guess but I would hate to be wrong." He whispered more quietly, knowing she was leaning on the back of his chair. "I'll keep working on it," he repeated. "Who needs sleep anyway? I'm not even tired." He didn't want to admit she was making him nervous. He blinked a few times and tried to go back to his charts.

"You will need to sleep soon," Beth commented on knowing she was almost badgering the man but it was frustrating to not even know where they could head to be able to even start the trip home. Did Earth even know they were missing yet? "How many hours has it been?" She had seen the logs of stimu's that had been handed out and the Officer in charge had announced that only one lot would be allowed before that person had to take rest hours.

"So will you. You should take advantage of a quiet evening. I'm not really sure," He frowned at her question. He should have had something by now. That was his job, to pilot and find a path through. "You rest and I'll find us a way home. You can throw me a hero party in the morning. I expect cake," he said as he looked up at her and grinned a little cheekily hoping she didn't throw him in the brig.

"I am not leaving the Bridge until we have a route at the very least." Beth looked at him pointedly before she rolled her eyes and returned to sitting in the Captain's chair silently. She curled up in it and took her jacket off "If there was cake I would not be sharing it." The woman said making the MACO stood by the door chuckle just a little. He knew the officer in charge was teasing but the look on her face said she was not.

"Are we talking pre lost in space or after Lieutenant?" The MACO asked trying to make conversation now that the bridge was not quite so silent, with only four of them there and the Vulcan at the Science Station not seeming willing he was going to risk it. Beth turned to look the man over and shrugged, he had a good point and it was a good question.

The question would go unanswered however. Aurelius suddenly froze. "I've got it." He said as calmly as possible. I know where we are." His fingers were now working frantically over the keys, mapping and cataloging as fast as he could move them. Suddenly without warning the console in front of him exploded in a ball of electricity. He was blown back, coming out of his chair and sliding across the deck, his head hitting a hard surface before he could even register what had happened. Darkness swallowed him up.
