Ships Tour

752 words - 1.5 OF Standard Post Measure

Captain Lascosh of the starship Glatrywr of the Releanian United Stars had been nothing but gracious since the moment that Beth had met him as he started the tour around the ship that had brought them into safety. The Glatrywr was an awe-inspiring vessel, to say the least. It boasted a striking emerald hue that enveloped its sleek exterior that the Captain had not appreciated when they had been brought to Relea. Crafted from advanced sustainable material as far as Beth could see, it seamlessly blended inside the ship giving a strange sensation of walking through caves. What she had seen so far in the mess hall created a harmonious blend of amenities and lush greenery creating a serene living environment for its crew.

“Have you seen anything like this before?” Beth asked the crew as they all finally got to the Glatrywr‘s mess hall.

"I mean, various locations around Earth aren't dissimilar, but none of those are flying around space as part of a major regional peacekeeping force." Calanthe had seen a lot of Realian culture through related depictions and retellings but hadn't necessarily made the most of exploring everything the planet had to offer first-hand. The ship wasn't entirely a surprise, she'd seen schematics after all, but somehow they hadn't done the actual vessel any justice. "They're deeply bonded to their planet, in many ways it make sense that they try to find a way to take part of it with them when they leave."

William had been impressed with the ship so far. He had jumped at the chance to see a Releanian starship, and it had not disappointed. Their technology was vastly superior. "That's putting it mildly, If there weren't any windows I'd believe we were still on the surface. The Releaians seem to have accomplished the feat of combining form and function in their ship designs," he offered.

"Decades and decades ahead of us," Beth said lightly as the door opened and the Captain finally joined the group. The Releaian in charge of The Glatrywr bowed to Beth as he joined the group.

"Pleasure to finally see you in person Captain. The screen does not do you justice nor the rest of your crew." He spoke with a deep accent.

Kiyara wasn't quite sure why they had been asked to tag along on the ship's tour, apart from the whole 'let's steal their advanced tech' idea that had gotten them and Sloan in trouble earlier that week. It had taken some doing but the engineering scanner in their pocket was hopefully picking up some useful data as they roamed the halls. All they had to do was what Orpheus had failed to do so many centuries before. Resist the urge to look.

"We are happy to meet the man who rescued us," Beth said and bowed back.

"Your vessel is most impressive Captain. I was just explaining to the others that if she did not have windows, I'd just as soon think we were on the planet than aboard this ship," William offered after greeting the Releaian captain.

"We like our home comforts and amenities." Captain Lascosh said smiling in the strange way that Releanian's did. "It is something our ships have developed over the last 500 years since we gained flight."

"Do you mean space or atmospheric flight?" Kiyara had wondered how long these people had been exploring space, five hundred years was a long time to perfect their tech and add to it through experimentation and iteration.

“Space. We have been exploring space for just over 500 turns around the sun.” Lascosh explained quietly. He had spoken to the King and Queen around this species and learned when and where they had started to explore space. It was an interesting start to their experience.

Kiya simply nodded at that, "Long time. What's the best thing you've discovered?" They wanted to distract the alien by allowing them to speak about things that had their passion and excitement, hopefully giving ample opportunity to the scanner and the others there to take everything in.

Lascosh put a hand to his chest to think on the things he had seen. “I believe that is yourself and your ship.” The man replied looking to the Captain with a jovial look about him. “We should start the tour properly Captain.” He wondered offering his arm to his fellow Captain in a way he had seen from the data file that had been shared from the strange ship that he had found.
