As if they heard what Samantha said the ship rocked back and forth just once as if a warning spot was given. "Lieutenant get us out of the atmosphere. Comms open a communication channel with them and use the translation that we have been working on." Beth ordered clutching her chair to stay in it.

At the command, Samantha engaged the impulse engines, quickly breaking orbit, matching the other ship's altitude and off their port bow. She knew the key to beating such a ship in battle would be manoeuvrability, and with her chosen position, she could swing around, and the other ship would be between the planet and them, reducing their manoeuvrability.

Livingston left the bridge and headed down to engineering, to see if they needed a hand in any possible repairs to the ship caused by the attack.

Ben entered engineering, looking for someone to assist.

Min couldn't help herself, quirking her brow at the sight as she managed to find something to brace herself against. "Perhaps they know a little English?"

"Both welcoming committees need a little bit of work," Aurelius said quietly to himself as he leaned his body against a railing. His hands could grab hold but he wasn't sure how much strength was in them to keep holding on. "Next time I'm going to work on my gift baskets."

Despite his earpiece limiting his hearing, Constantine chuckled quietly to himself at Aurelius' remark as he tapped in a familiar sequence of commands on the console in front of him. An ascending series of tones sounded, alerting him that the communication channels had been successfully opened. "Ma'am, we're transmitting on all frequencies with the translation algorithm in place. With any luck," he turned towards the center chair, "they'll be in a conversational mood."

Beth nodded at Mattias wishing she had an earpiece but everyone would have an opportunity to hear just exactly what was going on. "This is Commander Bethsabeth Leroux of the United Earth Starfleet Vessel Atlantis," Beth said calmly despite clinging to the chair as the vessel shook again from another shot.

A very roughly translated voice spoke from the communication speakers, "We do not speak with the ones who doomed us all." The channel then fell silent as sensors picked up a power surge coming from the Vrav ship as it fired. Instead of an energy weapon's discharge, the Atlantis was rocked as something seemingly invisible struck the ship with enormous power.

Gathering himself from the impact, Ensign Martinez said, "Captain, that was a kinetic impact. Not sure how many more of those we can take. This ship was built for energy weapons. Should I return fire?"

Aurelius' answer would have been yes, if nothing more than to get their attention. He wracked his brain for something to do, something that would help them. Maybe there was something he had seen on the planet or something Michael had said that would make them stop firing on them or at least listen.

"At least they understand us now. Can Michael talk to them?" Aurelius asked, slipping and using his first name instead of rank or position. "Maybe he would know what to say?"

"Commander Sloan is relieved of duty at the moment," Beth revealed over the alarms that were sounding louder without her usual headset on. She looked at where Martinez was sat and wished more than anything that Sloan was sat there but now was not the time to think on what-ifs. A million calculations were running from her head from returning fire to getting out of there quickly. "No do not return fire." She called watching the Ensign's hand above the tactical systems. "Leyton get us out of here maximum warp!" Beth instructed quickly. She could not risk the ship getting into a fire with a weapon it could not take much from,

"Aye, Captain," Leyton replied, shoving the throttle forward as the Atlantis' impulse engines pushed the ship to full impulse on a seemingly collision course with the other ship. Leyton rolled the Atlantis onto its ventral axis, narrowly missing the other ship. "Let's see how you like this," she whispered as if the aliens could hear her as she engaged the warp engines. The feedback from the warp field colliding with the other ship sent a vibration throughout the ship. "That should buy us some time while they gather their bearings and get our heading, captain."

Beth held her breath as they sipped towards the other ship. She trusted the woman but for a split second, she did wonder if she had another issue like Michael on her hands but the thought was fleeting. "Everyone okay?" Beth demanded as she clung to her chair as the ship finally stopped manoeuvring and they were on a straight course again.

"At the moment," Sovar said from the science station. He pulled away from the observation equipment at his disposal to speak more directly to the captain. "I believe we should be concerned about the alien ship laying in a pursuit course; their propulsion capabilities may outmatch this vessel. They seem quite intent on attacking us, perhaps rightfully so."

"A debate for another day Lieutenant," Beth warned as she moved to stand properly now it was stable to do so without clinging to something. It would be something she knew would haunt her for weeks to come how she had doomed another race to save her crew but it was on her and no one else if it was a fact. She had given the order so the butt stopped with her. "Damage report." She requested.

Aurelius couldn't help but compare this to the moment he'd been injured. It wasn't during a battle but the noise and movement of the ship somehow brought him back to that moment and he was temporarily frozen.

The Bridge was quiet for a few long moments whilst people caught their breaths and tried to make sense of stuff. "Ma'am they do not seem to be following us but there is a big problem in Science." A woman piped up who had been stood between two consoles trying to get a correct idea of what was occurring for the Officer In Charge.

"What kind of problem Ensign?" Beth wondered looking up from Helm where she was trying to see the direction they were going in.

"It was hit, Ma'am." The Engineering said holding out a PADD to the woman. "It was hit hard." Beth looked at the PADD then glanced at Sovar.

"How many people would have been in duty stations in the science lab on deck F." The Commander asked lowly trying to think of just how many of the brightest minds on the ship they would have just lost.

"Four - Ensigns Duong and Simbachawene, as well as Crewmen Carvajal and Majdoub," Sovar said. He stood back from his workstation and turned to the captain. Sounding almost concerned, he asked, "Permission to participate in the initial damage control efforts?"

"Permission granted. Keep me informed." Beth informed him raising an eyebrow at the tone but said no more. There would be time later on to discuss the ramifications but for now, they needed to run and hide.

Sam sighed. This had not been what he had hoped for, their first meeting of a species ending in battle and weapons fire. The latter being one of his specialities but still, he never sought it out. Time would tell how the rest of their time would be spent here. He had been monitoring the bridge from the stations behind at the rear of the bridge as he did not have a station to man. The stars now streaked past the screen. Where were they going to go?
